I get asked from time to time, what web hosting company do I use? Well, after trying out a few, through trial and error, I’ve gone with Host Gator. For features, price point, and support, I feel Host Gator is a great value.

Host Gator offers different shared hosting plans: Hatchling; Baby; and Business. Each setup to cater to different level of users. If you out grow these, Host Gator even offers dedicated servers, and a plan for resellers. I love the Unlimited Bandwidth, and Unlimited Disk Space provided on all shared hosting plans. Host Gator also provides 24 hour telephone tech support–that’s something my former hosting company lacked. In addition they also provide live on-line chat, as well as a trouble ticket system, and they have a forum section thats second to none.

If your looking to host a blog, Host Gator makes it easy. Through the cPanel, and the Fantastico script you have options for one-click installs of WordPress, as well as other blog platforms. They also include site building software to build your own website from scratch. I personally installed my self-hosted WordPress blog in a matter of minutes.

Host Gator provides so many options, that I urge you to check out their site for details. I’m sure they have a plan that’s right for you, at a price you can live with. Since I’ve been with them, I haven’t had any major problems; and the few questions I’ve called to ask them, were answered promptly and efficiently. Thanks Host Gator!

I’ve debated if going with a hosting service instead of Wordpress.com but I’ve wondered how hard it is to switch a free blog to a hosted one without losing traffic. I like the idea of having more freedom to do what I want with my blog though.

Thanks Delaney,

Plan to lose some traffic with the transition, but plan the move out before, and the loss should be minimum.
