  • When I was asked to review Namco’s latest title Brain Exercise with Dr. Kawashima, I must admit, I was a bit leery. Any game with brain in the title, I tend to stay away from. Maybe it’s just the Neanderthal in me. (No offense to my Neanderthal brethren out there.) I must say the experience wasn’t as painful as I feared.

Brain Exercise challenges your mental abilities with a number of different tests–I mean games. You can create a profile to keep track of your progress. This game mode also lets you use the calender to see your progression over time. There’s 15 unlockable mini-games. Brain Exercise gives you a challenge mode, to go head-to-head with other brainiacs. You can use the connect feature to upload your high scores, and view your worldwide ranking. There’s a quick play mode if your in a hurry, or just want to practice. Collect awards as you go, and enjoy the Bonus Sudoku game with 3 levels. All in all, Namco has packed enough workout material for your brain, so you can go from Walnut-Brain to Einstein-Brain in no time.

    My Personal Favorite!

    My Personal Favorite!

Personally my favorite game was Inverted Numbers. This one really had my brain sweating. The real test was having my 9 year old take it for a spin, and give me his thought’s. To my surprise, he liked it! When asked which game he liked best, he said he liked Add 3. He later went on, commanding me to put it on his iPod Touch–That in itself blew me away! I must add, he is driving me crazy now–constantly berating me with challenges. What have I done?
    My Son's Favorite!

Although I probably wouldn’t have given this app a second thought if I wasn’t reviewing it, I can confidently say, I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, if it wasn’t for my son’s unending jeering, Brain Exercise is quite enjoyable.
