GeoChirp
Here’s a cool site for people (tweeple) who love Twitter, the social networking platform. It’s called, GeoChirp, and it cool for searching for tweeple by location.
Going to the GeoChirp Site, it will bring up tweets, by tweeple who are local to your area. So these are tweeps who you are not necessarily following, but are tweeting in your area. GeoChirp incorporates Google Maps, as part of it’s interface. The map covers the top half of the page, while the local tweets are displayed on the bottom half of the page. You can display the number of tweets per page, as well as the radius of the search. The cool part is you can enter a specific location, and tweets will populate for that search. For example: I live in New Mexico now, but I can check on tweets from back in California (where I’m from), say Oakland, CA. and tweets will show up from that location. GeoChirp also has a big Refresh button, so you can update the tweets at will. In addition, GeoChirp has a cool Translate feature, that’s great for going global.
GeoChirp is a great way to meet new tweeps, both locally, and globally. It definitely adds to the overall value of Twitter. It brings a new way of using Twitter, that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. Give it a try, and let me know what you think.
